As the Parish Church of Bramhall, St. Michael’s has played host to numerous family weddings over the last century. Weddings are special occasions for all the family and we love celebrating with them.

Getting Married at St Michael’s

A wedding at St. Michael’s is act of worship in which two people declare their love and make promises to each other for the rest of their lives. Whilst there are elements of the service that are unchangeable, we always seek to make the service as personal as possible to ensure you never forget the day.

To be married at St. Michael’s you need to have a qualifying connection. These are:

  • You have lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months at some point in your life

  • You were baptised (christened) at St. Michael’s

  • You were confirmed at St. Michael’s

  • One of your parents have lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months

  • One of your parents or grandparents have regularly attended normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

  • Your parents of grandparents were married in the parish

If you don’t have a connection, you can create a qualifying connection but joining us for worship regularly for 6 months.

Enquiring and What Happens Next

If you are interested in getting married at St. Michael’s get in touch with the Parish Office who will check the diary and take your contact details. A member of clergy will then contact you to arrange a meeting to go through the booking details. This will include checking your nationality as required by UK law. The cost for a wedding changes on an annual basis, we will inform you of the current cost on enquiry.

Reading of Banns

Anyone getting married in the Church of England is required to have their banns read to publicise their intention to be married. If you need your banns reading at St. Michael’s please contact the Parish Office who will take your details and a member of clergy will be in contact to arrange the reading of banns.
