St Michaels Church and Bramhall Schools
At St Michael’s we reach out to local Bramhall schools to support them in any way we can. We really love school groups coming to see us at St Michael’s and we love to visit them too. St Michael’s focusses on what it can do for the school rather than what the school can do for it and, though we will always try to do the “legwork” (as we know teachers are extremely busy), what we do with schools is not “prescribed” by us but worked on collaboratively with the school. So we don’t have a “standard” visit as such – every visit is tailored to meet the requirements and abilities of each group and to tie in with the RE or school topic. Schools receive hospitality during a visit to St Michael’s, usually a drink and a scrumptious cake or fruit/veggie sticks.
The photographs above show some of the kinds of activities St Michael’s gets involved with. St Michael’s is such a great space for displaying art installations and, as we have done many times in the past, we would be very happy to discuss working with your school on an art installation. By way of example, St Michael’s has been involved with some of the following schools-based activities:
- Classroom sessions
- Discover Christmas
- Enrichment Activities
- After School Gardening Club
- Community Carol Services
- Harvest Events
- School Carol Services
- Remembrance and Anniversaries of WWI and WWII
- Bringing Old & Young Together…
- Easter with the Hungry Caterpillar and an Egg Hunt
We can also arrange clergy visits, help provide support to staff, and facilitate a whole range of creative activities. Each week we pray for our local schools and are happy to provide a temporary prayer space or reflection area for your school.
If your school would like to discuss how St Michael’s can help out, or if there are any particular activities that would benefit from St Michaels’ involvement, please do contact us and Jill Elston, our very able Bramhall School and Community Co-ordinator, will be in touch.
